Resumo
Intensa atividade de pesquisa desde a década de 80
demonstra
que o nosso entendimento dos fenômenos físicos
observados no dia a dia,
conceito medieval do ‘impetus’. Aqui pretendemos apresentar algumas
primeiras observações referentes à
formação do conceito de ‘massa’ e a
sua distinção do conceito de ‘peso’, desde
Aristóteles até Newton, em
comparação à
elaboração desse conceito pela criança
e, dum ponto de
vista mais geral, da persistência da confusão
entre eles no percurso
acadêmico e na vida adulta. Comentar-se-ão, ainda,
algumas implicações
pedagógicas dessa persistência no contexto de
concepções alternativas.
Abstract
Intense activity of research since the decade of
80 demonstrates that our understanding of the physical
phenomena observed in our day by day, beyond the knowledge eventually
acquired in the school, is also based on a set of spontaneously
acquired alternative conceptions. One of the inquiry lines that Piaget
pursued pointed in the direction to verify, making use of the
psicogenetic method, if the passage mechanisms from a historical period
of Science to the following one, are analogous to the ones of the
ticket for the child of a genetic stadium to the following ones. In its
work with Rolling Garcia ‘Psychogenesis and the History of Science’, he
investigated, among others, the infantile explanations of the
transmission of the movement in analogy to the medieval concept of
impetus. Here we intend to present some first observations on the
formation of the concept of mass and its distinction of the concept of
weight, since Aristotle until Newton, in comparison to the elaboration
of this concept for the child and, of a more general point of view, of
the persistence of the confusion between them in the academic passage
and the adult life. It will be commented too, some pedagogical
implications of this persistence in the context of alternative
conceptions.
